Ivy's Legacy Foundation, based in Sauk Centre, MN, received its tax-exempt status in February 2015, but its roots reach back to 2009 with an angel named Ivy Rose. Nicki and Aaron Vogt’s daughter, Ivy Rose, was born still at almost 33 weeks gestation. It was a shock. It was an absolute tragedy. But, thanks to tremendous love and determination, Ivy’s story didn’t end there.
Nicki wanted to turn Ivy's life into something positive. She was surrounded by so much love and support from family, friends, and the community, she felt compelled to pass it on. Team Ivy Rose was born. Made up of the Vogts' family and friends, the group was formed to raise funds for the March of Dimes. “I formed Team Ivy Rose because I wanted to help prevent other people from feeling the same loss,” said Vogt. “I needed a place to channel my sadness and still, in some form, be a mother to Ivy.”
The majority of the team’s donations came from local fundraising events. Nicki and the group decided it was time to expand their reach while also helping families on a local level.
